RC Simulator Packages to Practice Radio Control Flying

RC Simulator Packages to Practice Radio Control Flying

Rc Helicopter

Radio control hobbyists frequently use RC simulator software to practice flying helicopters and planes before trying to fly new models in the field. Radio controlled helicopters and airplanes are tough enough to take some bumps, but-like full size vehicles used to ferry people-they can be severely damaged in harsh crashes. Thus, new pilots are often advised to practice simulator flying first to get the hang of a bird's general handling characteristics. An RC simulator is also handy to have when the weather prohibits outdoor flying. Pilots have several major options for flight simulator packages. In order of increasing cost, we have:

1. FMS. This is a free package available through the internet for Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP systems. It allows you to fly a variety of radio controlled helicopters and planes using a keyboard or other controller, either a gamepad or a USB port device like the Esky simulation transmitter which is built to resemble a regular RC transmitter. Most of the available models are planes. One main drawback to FMS (Flight Model Simulator) is that it is not available for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or OSX. A second drawback for simulating helicopters is that the ground effect is not reproduced very well in FMS. The primary advantage of FMS, of course, is that is a very good way to get started to learn orientation and basic flying. This is particularly true if you are not certain whether flying radio controlled toys is something you will really enjoy and you don't want to invest much in a simulator. The graphics are not that attractive when compared to other packages, but the basic functionality is there and the price certainly cannot be beaten. FMS is definitely a flight simulator and not a game; there are no options for aerial combat or multiple pilot flying.

2. Clearview. The Clearview RC simulator costs approximately (US dollars) and works with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows NT. The graphics are definitely improved over FMS. Clearview includes many helicopters, planes, and one glider. Training modes are available to help you fly in predefined patterns so you can get a feel for the controls as quickly as possible. Clearview also allows water takeoffs and landings, which many other packages do not. Like FMS, it is designed more as a simulator than a game, but does allow multiple pilots to fly together. Flight recording is also available. Multiple pilots, flight recording, water takeoff and landing, and training modes are not available with FMS. A controller is not included with the cost of the software.

3. Heli-X. This java-based RC simulator is designed specifically for helicopters. The cost is 49 Euros, or .67 US. (The software was free in an earlier version, but not anymore. Version 0.9 can still be downloaded without charge.) It is one of only a very few RC simulators available for Macintosh OSX (64-bit Intel processors) and it also runs on Linux and Windows systems. Heli-X requires an OpenGL compatible graphics adapter and a USB joystick controller such as the Esky 0905A. This is an obvious choice if you want to simulate helicopters on a Mac, but it is not a good choice for planes or gliders since it does not include any plane or glider models. Heli-X currently offers cargo training as well, which is a fun feature to have. This allows some game-like functionality since you can pick up cargo, transport it, and drop it off at a designated target location. A drawback to the package is that models for FMS cannot be incorporated directly into Heli-X, since Heli-X uses wavefront format models.

4. Reflex XTR. This package has versions available for Windows XP and Vista computers and is designed to be controlled by a radio transmitter. The RC simulator is a very solid general purpose package that includes models for helicopters, planes, and gliders. This software does not provide support for a gamepad, as Clearview and FMS do. Graphics for Reflex XTR are top of the line in RC simulation and it is an excellent helicopter simulator, including good modeling of ground effect. Unfortunately, it does not yet include water takeoffs or landings. The Reflex RTR package features training modes, flight recording, and multiple pilots as does Clearview. The Reflex XTR system currently costs around 0+ US without a controller.

To summarize, there are several good options for RC simulator packages. The major factors to consider are, of course, price and feature set. Clearview and FMS are general purpose simulators and Clearview is probably preferable if you are interested in helicopter simulation. Clearview also offers two useful features, training modes and flight recording, that FMS does not. Heli-X is newer and is currently the best option for Macintosh OSX or Linux, but only if you are interested in flying helicopters. Reflex XTR is superb general purpose simulator for planes, helicopters, or gliders, but it is also the most expensive package we've discussed.

The History of Remote Control Helicopters

The History of Remote Control Helicopters

Rc Helicopter

The first ever successful flight of a remote control helicopter took place in West Germany in 1968 and was built by Dr. Dieter Schlute. This model was the first fully functional, controllable remote control helicopter and was pioneering in its field, offering the grounding for development throughout the years.

Taking the initiative from the first full scale operational helicopter by lgor Sikorsky in 1941, the RC helicopter truly succeeded after much trial and error in rotary types when in 1978, some ten years after the first remote control helicopter was proven to work, a semi-scale model of the Wallace Autogiro went mainstream leading to variations of the remote control helicopter kit to be sold in model shops worldwide.

There have been several basic designs for remote control helicopters over the years including those with collective pitch (meaning blades which rotate on their longitudinal axis to vary or reverse lift) which are typically more difficult to fly but are aerodynamically more manoeuvrable.

One of the major development barriers has been providing the RC helicopters with enough power to lift the weight of the construction off the ground. Given the development in technologies we have today this has been well overcome and typical power sources for remote control helicopters now include Nitro (nitromethane-methanol internal combustion), gas turbines, electric batteries, petrol and gasoline.

As the helicopters have developed throughout the years, one of the stand out features of each and every model has been that they are getting smaller and smaller. Today there are a large range of micro RC helicopters which work both indoors and outside which are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, a big step forward from the bulky structures we started out playing with.

RC Helicopters are now stocked by major high street and online stores, Gone are the days where they belonged to only the hardcore hobbyists and they are more accessible to the general consumer than ever.

As the helicopters entered the mainstream of the boys toys / gadgets industry it was apparent they needed to be more durable as novices took to the controls. The helicopters of today are made from die cast mould plastics which can withstand being flown into a wall or the ceiling at some speeds.

The main development within the last few years has been the introduction of gyroscope technology to the RC helicopters. This technology has made the remote control helicopters much easier to control, eliminating the consistent circling flying motion that is found within many of the cheaper models on the market. Turns and manoeuvres are more precise and generally easier to control meaning anyone can look like a pro within minutes of picking up their new toy and any time you ease off the control stick the Gyro returns the helicopter to an utterly stable, upright position.

The future of remote control helicopters will bring even more developments as all the manufacturers look to improve flight times, stability, manoeuvrability, charge times and who knows what else their creativity will conjure up.

The AR Drone Electric Remote Control Helicopter With An On-Board Video Camera - Fun For All Ages

The AR Drone Electric Remote Control Helicopter With An On-Board Video Camera - Fun For All Ages

Rc Helicopter

I wanted to let you know about an awesome electric remote control helicopter that is sure to bring a ton of fun for the whole family! See why this product is so unique and different from all other RC toy helicopters, and where to get one on sale and in time for the holidays.

The AR.Drone is an electric RC helicopter equipped with two built-in video cameras and you actually fly it using your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, allowing you to watch the live video feeds coming straight from the helicopter itself. Yes... totally cool!

I recently just saw this toy at Brookstone, which is the only "brick-n-mortar" retailer that sells this product. This remote control helicopter is actually referred to as a "Quadricopter" because it is powered with four motor propellers. The AR.Drone combines many of today's latest technologies, bringing you a fun high-tech toy in the genres of remote control, modeling, video gaming and augmented reality.

While it would seem "challenging" to control and fly, the AR.Drone has several technologies and sensors in place to make the flying experience easy and fun! Since you use your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad device to control it, steering the helicopter is done by simply tilting your device left and right, and then controlling the motion through on-screen buttons. And with the two cameras on-board, you can visually see the live video feed on your Apple device, while you are controlling and flying the Quadricopter.

The AR.Drone works well indoors and outdoors. When flying it inside, it comes with a protective "shield" referred to as a "hull", in case you bump into anything inside the house. In a more open field outdoors, you can take the full hull off. It is powered with a lithium-ion battery that should last about 20 minutes of flying time, so you may want to consider buying an extra battery. And the "remote control" part is actually done through a Wi-Fi connection between your iPhone/Touch/iPad and the AR.Drone.

In addition to just having fun flying the AR.Drone and watching the video feeds, you can also play a variety of games with it, using compatible applications from the iTunes store for the AR.Drone. Not only will the kids love it, but this is definitely a toy that will bring out the kid in everyone.

Learn the basics of remote control helicopters

Learn the basics of remote control helicopters

Rc Helicopter

Remote control helicopters are available in a variety of formats to meet the micro-electro-toy-models, on the palm of large specimens of the real thing, which are usually operated gaseous or liquid fuels and can cost several thousand dollars.

Most beginners will start on an electric or battery-powered helicopters RC. These are quiet, small and easy to start - just turn and walk away. (Other types of engines are primed and can be very fickle) Electricalare the safest way to start, and also the easiest to fly.

Electrically powered remote control helicopter has a rechargeable battery to power the motor. LiPo batteries are based on modern mobile technology, and have allowed a new branch of the RC off fly - micro electric helicopter.

All helicopters radio, electric or otherwise a radio transmitter, the pilot (that's you!) Works.

Transmitters have two or more channels, but ifYou want to do something different than flying in a straight line, you need at least three. Each of these canals tells the recipient to send a signal to another component to abandon the craft.

Obviously, the more channels a helicopter, the more it can do. On a simple 3-channel RC channel controls the throttle motor power for example), while the other two work "Servants" - mechanical components to change the stability of the helicopter so it can move to change direction.

There are 2 servantsconnected to a swash plate under the main rotor. All are called cyclic control rc helicopter has a swash plate, and this in turn controls the movement of the bar of flight (the funny thing to attack at right angles to the rotor blade) These servants "Cyclics" and both the work of a control. It allows forward and backward movement of the helicopter (cyclic) and enables the other from side to side (roll cyclic) Another servant acts as a rudder at the stern so that the new helicopterand remain in the air.

When a rotor turns, the body wants to turn the helicopter in the opposite direction - this is called torque. To avoid this, remote control helicopter has two rotors in opposite directions. In a simple three-channel craft are at the center, one above the other. This is a kind of coaxial helicopter. There is no tail rotor, although there is always an oar in any form.

If there is one central rotor, one must havevertically mounted on the tail to balance. This is called the tail rotor (obviously), but also as a rudder. So, as always non-coaxial helicopter "rotor only." This means that there is only along the central axis of the rotor.

Basic remote control car, truck, boat, plane, helicopter and other RC vehicle information

Rc Helicopter

If you are new to radio control toys is a hobby, then you're familiar with some knowledge of functionality, capacity, size and power bases, before deciding which model is right for you.

Some of these bases are only "nice-to-know" basis, while some are absolute "need to know." Some of this information on "direct impact" the knowledge that the final decision on the exact model, the manufacturer, the scale and type of engine that best suits the current situation.

Theirfirst decisions depend, if you buy the RC-model for you, your son, your nephew, or if there is a gift for a friend. This article assumes you have already made your choice, and if you decide on cars, boats, trucks, airplanes, helicopters or construction - and understand what needs to experience selected RC vehicle.

Function refers to what kind of control you have over the model. Your choice for the functionare:
Single Function (goes straight when moving forward and turning left while driving in the opposite direction). All models features go forward, backward, stop, left and right, and, in the case of construction equipment, lift, luggage, cargo and most of the functions of real life machinery. Developed specifically for preschool children, multi-function vehicles going forward, orient in the opposite direction, one direction and support.

The area is, as it can go from the transmitter modelunresponsive to the first control signal. This distance varies for different toys remote control toys, but most fall within the range of 30 meters to just over 180 meters. Block out external noise and sometimes weaken the signal. These disorders include such things as batteries, other toys near the same frequency, citizens band (CB) radios, cell phones, and near high-voltage transformers.

Find the interval specified, andthe description of the product.

Scale shows the size of the RC or the length of the frame, in relation to the real thing. 1/24-scale a mustang is 24 times smaller than the Ford Mustang, you buy from the showroom floor. The lower the percentage, the lower the vehicle, and sizes ranging from smallest to largest 1/32-scale 1/8-scale. Note that the larger the vehicle the higher charging the battery or fuel consumed during the operation.

Two types of drive systemsMethods, the power of remote control toys. These are NITRO (combustion engine) and battery. NITRO requires the purchase of additional liquid fuel.

Small Electric RC Powered by AA batteries, which are normally purchased separately. Large electric vehicles, rechargeable batteries in one of four Ni-Cad Voltage versions. They are: 4.8-volts in a blue package, 6.0-volts in the black box, 9.6-volt pack packaged in red and yellow with a 7.2-voltPower.

The 4.8-volt batteries are usually included in the model. 6.0V and 9.6V may or may not be included. Check the product description. 7.2 V-models typically do not contain the battery or the charger. Buy separately.

The donor must have either a 9 volt battery or AA batteries. Sometimes the producers are, sometimes not. The description of the product and / or packaging must say if it needs to bemake that purchase more.

You now have enough information to bring to adjust the final decision on radio control vehicle for your needs and desires. Make your choice carefully, and you or your giftee, will enjoy many hours of fun with your RC model.

New Syma S107 just the remote controlled helicopter and the fun of flying one of the best and most advanced mini-RC helicopter. This is the smallest and lightest RC helicopter on the market today, produced by Syma well-known brand.

I never had any kind of remote control of the flying machine, but I've always been a thought. I think it was one of my childhood dreams actually own remote control helicopter. Of course, the day of the Machineswere not as advanced as they are today.

Rc Helicopter

Browsing through Amazon I came across this Syma S107 and I have to say it really caught my eye; take a look at it for yourselves and you will see why. If you are looking to buy a mini RC helicopter then I would seriously consider taking a look at this New Syma S107 Remote Controlled Helicopter before making any decisions.

Nowadays with the improvement in technology and cost efficiency owning and flying an RC helicopter can be fun and affordable. As a beginner, if you've never flown before one of these is probably best to start with a helicopter Mini RC because they are smaller, cheaper and stronger. A mini-helicopter, like the New Syma S107 is ideal for beginners and experienced riders. These helicopters are perfect for anyone from 8 years, so are great gifts for anyone interested in receiving remote control as a hobby.

Mini Helicopters a great way to get into this fun and excitinghobby. This will allow you to hone your pilot skills on inexpensive helicopters before you move on to more advanced helicopters if that is what you choose to eventually do.

The New Syma 3 Channel S107 Mini Indoor Remote Controlled Helicopter can literally fit in the palm of your hand at approximately 7.5 inches long and weighing in at only 34grams. It is equipped with latest Gyroscope technology which is used to stabilize the helicopter's heading, not seen on many old style mini helicopters. The S107 comes equipped with a high grade metal body frame and not a delicate piece of plastic that many RC helicopters are made from.

Its miniature size and light weight making it perfectly portable so you can take it pretty much anywhere you go. With a super wide infrared control it is thus well suited for indoor flying. For a steady lift off the S107 is controlled by a 32-Level high precision speed controller, which automatically stabilizes the rotor blade System.

This is a 3 channel indoor helicopter, meaning it can go forward, up, down, left and right. Two engines power the solid high strength bolts with a third engine at the tail rotor, this machine has the power you need.

This mini helicopter gyro metal has a high capacity Li-Poly battery, good for the longest flight time and duty, either directly or through the USB cable from the control, AA batteries will be used.
